Jubilee Events

What a marvellous time we have all had at the Jubilee in our villages. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together for celebration in honour of our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth the Second.

There were the fundraising event of the Supper on Friday, the History Exhibition and Flower displays on Saturday, Lacey Green Singers Concert of royal music, the fete (moved to the school because of weather conditions - nothing hindered us from celebrations).

Dedication of Alter Frontal and Kneelers

On Sunday 3rd June, we were priviledged to be able to dedicate then kneelers at our altar rail and also a beautiful new alter frontal kindly donated to us in memory of the service and ministry in St. John's by Reverend Bernard Houghton and his wife Kitty.

Also dedicated, was a kneeler purchased by Marjorie Palmer before she died, completed by Margaret Gray, and dedicated to the Diamond Jubilee of our Queen.

Jubilee Weekend

The Jubilee Weekend at St John's Church proved to be a great success with Jubilee Flowers and History Exhibitions in the Church throughout the weekend, a fete held in the school (due to the wet weather) on Saturday afternoon, an excellent concert by Lacey Green Singers on Saturday evening and 'Songs of Praise' on Sunday evening with participation by representatives from the Methodist, Baptist and Jewish faiths.

Teddy Bears' Picnic ... Wonderful

Our thanks go to Jenny Stothard, Toni Booth and all of those who helped to make the Teddy Bears' Picnic such a wonderful event. The teddy bears certainly enjoyed it - I know that the children did too.

Following our All Age Worship on the First Sunday of May, many went into the school and had a great time playing with all of the toys, picnicking and dancing around the Maypole.

Let's do it again please.
