On 24 February, Canon Tony and Pat Rushmere, one of our church wardens, visited Westminster Abbey. The occasion was the Ordination and Consecration of Archdeacon Karen Gorham, now the Bishop of Sherborne in the Diocese of Salisbury, by The Archbishop of Canterbury. Karen has been most supportive of our church and PCC over the years as Archdeacon and so it was a joy for our church to be there to support her on such a wonderful occasion.

Operation Christmas Child benefitted to the tune of 71 shoe boxes thanks to the generous donations by members of the St John's Church and St John's School communities. Thank you.
On Saturday 22 November we had another fantastic Christmas fayre. Highlights were the band playing a selection of festive music, Santa, lunches and refreshments plus lots of fantastic stalls including cards, crafts, handbags, produce, toys, cakes, wreaths and table decorations, tombolas and much more. Approximately £1,500 was raised for church funds. Well done to all involved and everyone who came and spent!
Many thanks to everyone who turned out to support our table top/car boot sale and helped with the lunched last Saturday. A special thank you goes out to Caroline Gulliver for helping to organise the event.
We had a fantastic turn out and managed to raise over £300 for the church.
Many thanks to Jenny Stothard and team for the wonderful Teddy Bears Picnic last week.
The teddies from the Vicarage certainly enjoyed it and £200 was raised. GRRRREAT!
Congratulations to Ann Eden on winning the "Name the bunny" draw with the name "Flopsie".
Thank you to everyone who entered - you managed to raise £40 that will go to the Lighthouse fund.
Junior Church members (and their families) worked so hard at washing cars and had such fun doing it. It was a great event and the word on the street is that cars have never been brighter and cared for with such love and fun.
Bless you Junior Church for raising over £230 for church funds and also for having such yummy cakes presented by such yummy mums.
Don't forget to thank those who organise these events. Thanks especially to Claire McWilliams.
Thank you to all the children, and to Rosemary Mortham, for the wonderful cakes to celebrate Mothering Sunday. The Junior Church worked hard in Rosemary's house to decorate cakes as usual. These were of a really high standard and children, thank you for making the day so special.
The Jubilee Weekend at St John's Church proved to be a great success with Jubilee Flowers and History Exhibitions in the Church throughout the weekend, a fete held in the school (due to the wet weather) on Saturday afternoon, an excellent concert by Lacey Green Singers on Saturday evening and 'Songs of Praise' on Sunday evening with participation by representatives from the Methodist, Baptist and Jewish faiths.
What a marvellous time we have all had at the Jubilee in our villages. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together for celebration in honour of our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth the Second.
There were the fundraising event of the Supper on Friday, the History Exhibition and Flower displays on Saturday, Lacey Green Singers Concert of royal music, the fete (moved to the school because of weather conditions - nothing hindered us from celebrations).
